SELECTING BOUQUET RIBBONS
Not sure which ribbons to buy or bundle together? Are you unsure what lengths you need and which colors and textures compliment a bouquet? We have the answers in this buyers guide tutorial designed to help make your shopping experience a little easier. Here we will cover information on our silk ribbon textures and assistance on which collections of ribbon to use for a bridal bouquet.
We also offer an easier way to select your bouquet ribbons. We have a selection of preselected bouquet collections in a variety of colors and textures to make your ribbon shopping experience that much easier.
When we design bouquet collections we love to include a variety of our silk ribbon textures to add depth and movement to the bouquet and this maybe something you will want to do too (or you may prefer to purchase one of our collections). We currently have five different textures for you to choose from:
ORIGINAL SILK - this is a flat woven silk with a soft sheen and drape. It comes in four widths.
CRINKLE - a translucent textured silk chiffon which comes in three widths;
CHIFFON - a very delicate diaphanous silk with a crepe-like matte finish, in 2.5 inches only;
GAUZE - a very soft flowing silk with a soft sheen, in 4 inches only;
RUFFLE - a 1 inch wide textured ribbon with a soft ruffly edge (but can be pressed to make a sheer textured ribbon). It has two ‘turns’ within the length.
RIBBON LENGTH AND QUANTITY
Our ribbons come in continuous three yard strips, with no seams. This length is perfect for creating long flowing ribbons on a bouquet. Most of our brides prefer to use the ribbon to its full length, but they can always be cut down, or looped to create folds for a short or mid-length ribbon collection. Our original silk ribbons mostly come on spools of two, three yard lengths.
One of the pleasures of creating your own bouquet collection is combing our different widths and textures. The widths range from 0.5 inch in our original range to 4 inches in the gauze ribbon. Adding a thin strip of bold colour can really add a highlight to your colour palette or a detail of interest in the way the ribbons catch the breeze.
We are always asked ‘how many yards do I make buy to make the perfect bouquet ribbons?’ Here we have illustrated and listed some collection yard and length examples.
